The term ‘Glocal’ is made from two words; ‘global’ and ‘local’, it refers to ‘from global to local’.
This is a new campaign that we are spear-heading as an organization, in partnership with various community organizations, and environmentalists and climate justice activists, as well as international entities. This initiative is about ensuring strong international and national plans for local or localized action.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) and Paris Agreement are the core targets of this initiative. The SDGs should be revitalized with global and local partnership for sustainable development, which should be linked with concrete policies and actions, some of which are outlined in the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, which is an integral part of the Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063 (The Africa We Want). The Addis Ababa Action Agenda supports and encourages contextualized means of implementation of action targets, this is the important component of this campaign.
The Glocal aims at pursuing policy coherence and an enabling environment for sustainable development at all levels by all actors, no one left behind, and to reinvigorate the global and local partnerships for sustainable development and shared benefit.
