The SAYCCC has always had an open membership since its inception in 2011 and when it was registered as an NPO later in 2015. It has always emphasised the importance of applying principles that are in line with the constitution of the Republic of South Africa and NPO Act. Therefore, the constitution of SAYCCC has given authority to the Board of Directors to determine terms of membership in ways in which the country’s constitution can be complied with, while ensuring that the existence of the organization becomes more significant in the society especially in matters of climate justice.
Objective:
To determine the terms of membership within the organization to complement the 5th provision of SAYCCC constitution.
Scope:
SAYCCC membership is open to any person, regardless of race, gender, marital status, ethnic or social origin, sexual orientation, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture and language.
SAYCCC has two types of membership, primary and secondary membership:
2.1.Primary membership: this membership has a fee of R150, and it lasts from the 1st of April to the 31st of March, the fee will be revised at the General Meetings. A membership form will be online and members expressing interest in obtaining primary membership shall be approved by the Secretariat.
2.2. Secondary membership: this membership is free, it is valid for one year, and if a member does not renew membership after three years, the member will be removed from the database. The form to this membership will be online and members expressing interest in obtaining this membership shall be approved by the Secretariat.
Benefits: members who hold primary membership are eligible to attend the organization’s General Meetings as voting members.
